Maureen Heath.

We were saddened by the loss of our member, Maureen Heath, who passed away on Feb 28th 2024.

Maureen Heath

A post from Simon Prior & family: It’s with sad and heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of our dear Mum, Maureen Heath. She passed peacefully at home after losing her battle with cancer.

We would like to thank everyone for their love and support at this time.

The Funeral Service was held at Sacred Heart Church, Cecil Road, Paignton on Monday 25th March at 10am. A good number of our members attended the service and the 'wake' at the Redcliffe Hotel, Paignton to share memories of Maureen.

Since joining the club with her husband, Steve, in 2010, Maureen has always been an active member of the club.

She was Ladies Captain in 2017, 2019 and again in 2022 and 2023.

Her first bowling success came in 2011 in Club Competitions when she was in the winning Ladies Triples team, since then she has been in the winning ladies triple twice more, in 2016 and 2017. In 2013 Maureen and Steve were runners up in the Partnered Pairs and they went on to win this event in 2014 and 2015. Sadly, Steve died in 2018.

Maureen also persuaded her daughter Natalie to try out the game and has had the excitement of seeing Natalie enjoying success at Bowls England National Finals. Our thought are with Natalie and the rest of Maureen's Family.

R.I.P. Tim, a founder Member of this club. Our condolences to his family.

Pat Grice

We were saddened to hear of the death in July 2022 of Life Member, Pat Grice. Pat was a true lady who was a founder member and the first secretary of MBC. Without Pat and a few others of her generation, MBC would not exist. She was the life and soul of the club in the early days, supported everything and ran numerous jumble sales to raise funds for the green which we did not have at the time. A debt of gratitude is owed to her. May she never be forgotten.

Jan O'Leary

Sad news just before Christmas 2022 as we heard that Shaun O'Leary's wife, Jan O'Leary, passed away on Monday December 19th at Torquay Hospital. Jan was a great supporter of Shaun and Marldon Bowls club, and before being confined to a wheelchair could always be relied upon to help out with Teas at short notice if we found ourselves short of a volunteer. Our sympathy goes to Shaun.

Jan had a private cremation. There was a gathering of the family and friends, including our members. for her interment at Torquay Woodland Burial Site, in Conqueror Wood, at 10am on Saturday 28th January 2023.

Following the Interment, friends were invited to join Shaun for a gathering at Marldon Bowls Club where food and drink was available.
