Bowls Tours

Marldon Bowling Club extends a warm welcome to touring bowls clubs, so if your Club is considering touring South Devon, then Marldon Bowling Club is an ideal venue for one of your matches. We can provide seven rinks, a bar and catering facilities (Catering available by prior arrangement) and, of course, a typical Devon welcome.

We are situated in the village of Marldon, close to Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Totnes and Newton Abbot and only a few miles away are Exeter and Plymouth, plus the glorious Dartmoor National Park.

Torquay and Paignton offer good hotels and guest houses to suit all tastes plus the delights that go with Devon seaside towns, golden sand, palm trees, pasties, Devon cream teas and nightlife. Both Torquay and Paignton have theatres and added attractions are the world renowned Paignton Zoo and Dartmouth Steam Railway.

Just along the coast is the fishing town of Brixham with its bustling harbourside and inland is the town of Newton Abbot with its racecourse providing regular summer National Hunt racing.

Totnes, on the river Dart, is famous for its Castle and the arch across its main street. Close to Totnes is the famous Dartington Centre, selling local crafts and foods.

For those on your tour who like walking, Dartmoor, and its ponies, is a short journey away, and closer to Marldon we have the Occombe Farm Project a working farm with a nature trail, shop and cafe, and National Trust property Compton Castle, a fortified Manor House.

Not far away are the National Trust properties Greenway House, formerly the summer retreat of Agatha Christie, and Coleton Fishacre, an 'Art Deco' period property with superb gardens.

About thirty miles away are the cities of Plymouth, with a large Marine Aquarium, a newly opened shopping mall and, of course the Hoe, where Sir Francis Drake played bowls and also Exeter, famous for the Cathedral, its riverside walks and great shops.
